Texas Resource for Early Autism Treatment

 

 

 

Texas Resource for Early Autism Treatment (TREAT) provides in-home behavioral treatment consultation for pre-school children under the age of 5 years with Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorder, and older children and adolescents who have been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. Children accepted into the program typically demonstrate developmental delays in one or more of the following areas:

bulletReceptive language development
bulletExpressive language development
bulletSocial skills
bulletPlay skills
bulletCognitive skills
bulletSelf help skills
bulletGeneral behavioral functioning and adaptation

Additionally, children accepted into the program typically demonstrate behavioral excesses in one or more of the following areas:

bulletSelf-stimulatory behavior (stereotyped and repetitive motor mannerisms)
bulletAggression (towards self or others)
bulletFrequent tantrums
bulletInflexibility to specific, nonfunctional routines or rituals
bullet

Persistent preoccupation with parts of objects

 

TREAT's Executive Director:

 

bulletGerald E. Harris, Ph.D., BCBA

Dr. Harris is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, with extensive experience in the treatment of young children.  In addition to his private practice, Dr. Harris teaches classes at the University of Houston, and he is the Executive Director of the Texas Young Autism Project (TYAP).
